Journal app notifications not working

Once I installed the new update, with the Journal app, I had to close all of my apps and relaunch the Journal app, and order to set up notifications for the Journal app. But even though I have set up notifications, I am still not seeing any badges on the Journal app with notifications for my daily reminder. The persistent notification banner that I set up is also not working. I have restarted the phone multiple times. I have turned off notifications and turned them back on for this app and then restarted, and nothing is working. Is there any known fix the Journal app to show a badge after a notification?
