Updating Mail Password on MacBook Laptop

I updated my gmail password earlier today on gmail.com, but when I try to update my password on the mail app on my MacBook Air I keep getting Error Messages stating "Invalid Request-you can't sign into this app because it does not comply with Google's 0Auth 2.0 Policy for keeping apps secure"

I tried deleting my gmail account on mail but I cannot add it again. Is there an issue with gmail and mail syncing?

Resetting Gmail account on MAIL I have found a number of suggestions for helping with verifying account name or password using a gmail account. This is a Google problem, not a MAIL problem. Here is the most helpful solution I have found: 1. Go to your Google account settings (myaccount.google.com) and enter the security options. 2. Make sure the two-step verification is activated. Otherwise follow the steps to turn it on. 3. Right under the two step verification, enter the Apps Passwords option. 4. Choose "Mail" as app and "Mac" as device. Click Generate. 5. You will see a new password in the screen. Copy it and enter it in your Internet Account options in System Preferences in your Mac, and wherever it still asks for your Mail password. Make sure you keep this password somewhere safe.

Can't update gmail password in Mail 10.3 I am running Sierra on an iMac so that my Quickbooks software will run. I needed to update a password on a gmail account which was compromised. I updated the password in the Google website but I can't update it in the Mail app 10.3. Is there a solution so I can use the gmail account in Mail and not have to sign in to Google?
