Force lens selection iPhone 12 pro

My camera often automatically switches to a wide lens with digital zoom when I am trying to shoot something with the telephoto. Does anyone know how to force the phone to stay on telephoto instead of automatically switching to a digital zoom on the wide lens?

You can save the last camera mode, filter, lighting, depth, and Live Photo settings you used so they're not reset when you next open Camera . Go to Settings > Camera > Preserve Settings. Turn on any of the following: Camera Mode: Save the last camera mode you used, such as Video or Pano.
