Apple Music not showing album thumbnails after Sonoma update

Hi,

After the MacOS Sonoma update, Apple Music stoped showing thumbnails of artwork embedded in .mp3 files. I recall this happening before with a previous update.

I'm looking for an explanation for this behaviour rather than a solution to my problem.

Some or all of this artwork was embedded with Apple Music or iTunes. In fact, the thumbnails of albums I downloaded from Bandcamp (a music distribution service) still show.

When getting information about albums, I can see that Apple Music recognizes the embedded picture but doesn't create the thumbnail (see screenshot below).
