Logic Pro on M1 - Still No OMF Support?
I have been using as my primary DAW Logic Pro for 15 years. I do a lot of post-production mixing and sound design for visual media and since purchasing my M1 Mini in 2021 I have NOT been able to import OMFs. The option to import "other" does not work as all .omf files are greyed out.
To compound the issue, either Premier, Final Cut and/or Logic Pro, has major issues with AAFs. Some have noted how dodgy OMFs can be, but I have never had any issues. AAFs on the other hand are the bane of my (Logic Pro's?) existence. E.g. I just imported a 00:01:15 long project from an AAF and most of the regions don't render the audio spectral image correctly, and worse, when I reopen the project Logic warns me that "197 regions have changed in length or have been removed". At that point most of the regions have been shortened to about 2-5 seconds long and are not recoverable. I have NEVER successfully imported an AAF, and now that is apparently the ONLY option for importing projects? Isn't Logic Pro for "Pro" users? How am I supposed exchange projects between other video and audio editing professionals if OMFs are not supported and AAFs are unusable?
I know I can run Logic with the "Rosetta" box ticked and OMF imports will work again, but then the machine is taking a performance hit. Having to use a work-around for a 3+ year old problem that effects me on a near daily basis is unacceptable for the amount of money spent on Apple products that are supposed to just work.
