I found clarity in the Apple Music Subscription :

Do you have an active subscription to Apple Music?    🎵 

To use Sync Library, you need a subscription to Apple Music. You can also use Sync Library with an iTunes Match subscription.

If you cancelled your subscription to Apple Music or iTunes Match, your music library is removed on all of your devices except for the device your music library is stored on. Any music, including playlists, that you added or downloaded from the Apple Music catalogue is also removed.

I use iTunes music library , though I'm going to check out the music subscription service for clarity . Once again I have to tell another user that once there is a break in the music subscription , the music disappears . Think of it as renting a music library .

My iTunes library is mine to use forever because my content is purchased from the iTunes Store , available for download at any time .

You may re-subscribe , but you'll be starting over . 😫

Same! I havent paid my subscription for about two months and am finally able to get back to it and was so excited to get my music back and theres nothing there!! I dont know what to do. I keep going to settings and toggling "sync library" on ans off but nothing seems to be happening and idk what else to do! Omg this has never happened before. Does non-payment count as cancellation?? I have a couple songs downloaded and can see previously played songs and can get some back that way but other than that norhing is working! I need ALL of my songs!!!

UPDATE! I just checked my laptop and all my songs are still on itunes..how do i get them back on my Apple music app on my phone???
