IWatch cellular service plan

Do I need a separate paid cellular plan to use cellular service on my Apple Watch?

I already have a paid monthly cellular plan for my iPhone for unlimited calls and texting and (a limited quantity of ) data per month.

I had the impression that my paired watch will utilise the cellular plan I already have for my compatible paired iPhone.

I understand there may be a minor registration cost for the watch to use the paired iPhone plan…there is no separate plan which accrues data usage charges for the watch data usage.

Pls clarify.

Typical cost is $10 U.S. added to your iPhone bill, and you share your iPhone’s number.

Your carrier MUST support the Apple Watch. Here is a list of carriers:

Apple Watch - Carriers - Apple

You can use an Apple Watch without a cellular plan, and the Apple Watch will just use the iPhone’s radios. If you always keep your iPhone nearby, you can do everything a signed up cellular model can do.

It is just that the signed up cellular model can leave the iPhone at home.
