macOS Big Sur , the requested version of macos is not available

I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, early 2013) currently installed macOS Catalina.

I want to upgrade to macOS Big Sur.

I'm trying to use "about this Mac" - "updates" says the latest software is installed on your Mac.

When I try to download through the App Store, I get "the requested os version is not available".

I can download the distribution kit from third-party links and install it in flash drives, but I'm afraid of bricks.
