Cannot add Ethernet as a service

I wasn't getting internet access through my ethernet adapter, so I tried deleting the Ethernet service to try re-add it. However, once I deleted the service, I cannot add it back.

There is no Ethernet or USB 10/100/1000 LAN option in the interface list.

There is no USB 10/100/1000 LAN option in "Set Service Order".

I have tried restarting my Mac many times (to no avail).

I also tried adding a new location, however, there is still no ethernet option.

How can I add ethernet as a service?

If you don't have a working Ethernet adapter/connection then you can't add the Ethernet option because it does not exist. Connect a working adapter to a working Ethernet port and you should see the Ethernet option.
