I am using the same network on my iPhone and MacBook. although it is cellular network my phone show me the right location but why MacBook showing me wrong. if Mac shows location using ip address, it should be same on both device. in case of gps, I am literally here in my house and it shows me 1100 km away.
and it is new issue.
verify you have appropriate Location Services active.
you can file a bug report /submit your Apple Feedback here: http://www.apple.com/feedback
FWIW, Location Services on a Mac uses Wi-Fi triangulation, not GPS.
Just to add to what I said, I don't think a Mac can read the GPS info from an iPhone.

I have never known a cellular Hot spot showing you an exact location...
is this an old issue, new issue?
