Pop-up menus disappear too quickly from dock icons

I think since the update to Sonoma I have noticed this issue, because I don't remember this being a problem before.

Every time I press and hold an app icon to bring up the pop-up menu, if I don't release the button very quickly, the pop-up menu disappears. Previously, this "fast menu disappearing" did not occur, but I guess there has been an update to the "dock icons pop-up menu" timeout which makes it incredibly quick.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Hold down the mouse button over an icon in the dock so the app's pop-up menu shows up
  2. Release the mouse button

If you hold down the button for ~1 second or less, the menu remains. If you hold it down for more than that time (~1.5 seconds or more) the menu will disappear. This is very annoying when you have to search through a large menu of items to find your choice. It's like playing a game of cat-and-mouse because between the time the menu pops up and when you have to release it is like a fraction of a second and it is easy to miss the window and then the menu is gone.

I understand some people prefer the menu to disappear when the button is released instead of persisting, so then make a detection whereby if the user is holding down the button and actively moving through the menu items it stays, but if the cursor remains in the same place it was held down in, the menu persists.
