Download speeds with new MacBook Air M2

I have a brand new MacBook Air M2 that connects to my CenturyLink router, but the download speeds are really bad. My old computer, and all other devices on this network including TV's are working just fine with blazing speed thanks to fiber right to the house. This new MacBook will load emails, but struggles and finally stops Safari with sites like nfl.com by showing the menu on the left, but then it won't go any further. I've spent hours on the phone with Apple support, and with CenturyLink and now both are saying it's the other's problem so I'm stuck. My only next move, unless someone here has seen this and a fix, is to return the computer which I have another week to be able to do that.

Maybe it has to do with there being many devices connected to the router, the Wi-Fi generation of both the router and laptop (5, 6, 6E, etc.), or something else or a combination of things. Also, try restarting your computer and router, disconnecting it from the laptop and reconnecting it, forgetting it and reconnecting, and resetting network settings on the laptop.

Thanks for the thoughts. I did read one Reddit post about one of the CenturyLink routers getting overloaded once it gets beyond 40 devices. I did discuss with CenturyLink and their response, albeit it seemed canned, was that wasn't a problem with these new routers. I've reset, reloaded and seem to have re-everything'd. I'll send this computer back, and then get a new one. It'll be interesting to see if this problem happens with the new computer.
