How to reconnect Apple Watch to IPhone

My Apple Watch does not show that it is connected or disconnected from the iPhone. However, the Apple Watch app does not work and asks me to add a new watch. But, I can still see it on Find My Phone and play a sound on it. I can see text messages on the watch but not emails or news. How do I reconnect it to the IPhone Apple Watch App?
