WhatsApp Message Previews on Apple Watch

Hi. I've recently bought my partner an Apple Watch SE for her birthday. On her iPhone 11 she has it set up so that you can't see message previews from WhatsApp on her lock screen. She would however want to see message previews on her watch.

I'm really struggling to work out how to set this up. As it stands, when she receives a message, it just shows who has sent it, and when you click the notification it just states "MESSAGE" instead of the actual message. The only way I can get it to show the actual preview is by allowing it on her lock screen on her phone, but she doesn't want this option enabling.

Is there anyway around this? Basically to have message previews allowed on your watch without them being allowed on your phone? It's worth noting this isn't an issue with other messages such as Facebook Messenger, it's just happening on WhatsApp!
