Changing Apple ID to new email address

Hi - I have just successfully changed my Apple ID to my new email address, and I have been able to log-in to discuss this issue using my new Apple ID. However, both my iPhone 11 and my iPad still show my old email address as my Apple ID. Having read this recent post, I am nervous about signing-out of either device, especially as I am still being asked for the password connected to the old Apple ID in order to sign-out. I have not changed my password - just my email. There have been no other changes other than my email address. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thank you so much for replying. Much appreciated! I have printed off the Apple Support article you suggested, and it turns out that I do not actually need to do anything at all, as my Apple ID has now automatically been updated by Apple. I just had to give Apple enough time to change my details (up to 24 hours, as per the article you suggested). Whew! I am so glad I did not start messing around with my devices too soon!
