Any way to pair an AppleWatch SE/2023 with iPhone6s/7/iOS-15.8 using a MacBookPro-2023?

Today I received my brand new AppleWatch SE (GPS+Cellular) 2023 which does NOT pair with my iPhone7 or iPhone6S.

Since both iPhones still function correctly, and I don't see any reason to buy new ones, I'ld love to know if there is some kind of workaround to get the Watch pair with one of them.

I did buy some months ago a brand new MacBookPro-2023 which I might use

If not I'll try to return both to Apple, ask for a refund and switch completely to the Android platform, which seems to work better with older models.

I hope there is a workaround, because I regret leaving Apple completely, but I feel very miserable to be forced to buy new (expensive) hardware which last several years because of some strange software update which I do not need! BlueTooth seems to work even on other devices which are 10 years old, so why can't Apple support this whereas other OS-es can??!

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the quick reply!

If I buy any of the above mentioned old iPhones (second-hand and/or refurbished), can you probably recommend a specific model which last as long as my current iPhone6s/7?

I prefer spending as less as possible to 'support' Apple which forces you to buy regularly new stuff which you do

not need! For example I have a Casio scientific calculator which still works perfectly after 40+ years of usage!

I wish Apple did follow that policy, without forcing you to contribute to environmental pollution.

I have the iPhone 12 and a good iPhone. As for not supporting old devices. There’s a point were an update just can’t support an old device or and old device supporting a newer device (ie Watch).

Side note: I just went to Dunkin’ Donuts. They no longer have a person at the front register. You have to use the kiosks or app to make an order. I guess I’ll just have to adjust to it. I might as well use the app to make my order from the app so it’s ready when I get there. Times are changing.
