Numbers calculate mph
for cycling: I can calculate if the ride is over an hour, but for less than an hour, say 10 miles in 55m 20s I get 0.18. How do I enter the time to get the correct mph?

Bob,
Calculations made with durations can be tricky due to formatting details. I went at it by explicitly formatting three columns as Hours, Minutes and Seconds, and then combining them before doing the division to get MPH.
Columns A,B,C,&D are all formatted as Durations.

If you haven't done so already be sure to have a look at the built-in templates at File > New in your menu.
One is called 'Running Log'. Rename that and you've got a cycling log that, among other things, calculates pace. The original looks like this:
You enter the date in column A, time in B, and distance in C. It calculates the pace, and produces all those nice summary statistics and charts.
