iPod classic and Subaru Forester

I need to know how to remove the album art from the iPod as this is supposed to make it work. Currently the iPod connects but after about 2 minutes it says "no readable files". Please if you have any suggestions I would be very grateful!🤔😁

If your iPod states no readable files, I doubt that it is caused by album art, or that removing the artwork would cure the problem. It's more likely that the files have become corrupted, regardless of the artwork, or that the iPod's hard drive has failed.

You mention your vehicle, so I assume that the message "no readable files" appears on the vehicles's display rather than the iPod itself (I'm not aware of that specific message on an iPod Classic). Can the contents of the iPod be read when it is not connected to your vehicle?

Removing the artwork would necessitate deleting it in from the copies of the songs your iTunes Library and then adding the newly modified files to the iPod. But if the contents of the iPod are unreadable even when using the iPod stand-alone from the vehicle (please confirm this), the first thing I suggest is to use iTunes to Restore the iPod. This would clear everything from the iPod and then reset it to a known state, after which you can add back your music using your iTunes (or Finder).

Steps involved in using iTunes to Restore an iPod can be found in Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

It's always possible the the iPod's hard drive has failed. See this tip from fellow user turingtest2, in particular the heading Check your iPod with Diagnostics Mode which helps test the health of the hard drive: Corrupt iPod Classic - Apple Community. What are the results?

The message "no readable files" is beginning to make sense now (and I assume the message is on the car's header unit, not on the iPod). If your iPod is an iPod Classic, i.e. similar to the one shown below:

... then it's possible that the Android Auto is looking for either Apple's iOS software, or Android software, neither of which are which on an iPod Classic.

I don't know much about Android Auto, you may find more specific help by searching online for Android Auto help. In the meantime I suggest that you check the various menu options on the Android Auto to see whether it can use an AUX input rather than Android input. Using an AUX input means that the Android Auto would be looking for straightforward audio, not iOS or Android software.

If your vehicle cannot read audio through an AUX input, you could also try your iPod in a vehicle that doesn't have Android Auto.

For what it's worth, I'm reasonably certain that the problem is not caused by artwork in the audio files. Instead, it's because the Android Auto cannot read the older iPod Classic's output.

The car says no files readable. The iPod has already been restored. The iPod works fine under other circumstances or inputs. When I connected to the car the iPod is taken over by the car and I cannot operate the iPod but the car says there are no readable files. The iPod says that it is controlled by Android auto and Android auto lights up on the car but it can't seem to read the music files. Thank you so much for your help I really appreciate it. I agree with just about everything you said. I hope some other folks out there have some good ideas.
