Printer Compatibility with new MacBook Pro Sonoma 14.2.1 with new M3 chip

I can't get my Brother MFC-J985DW printer software to download to my new Macbook. I need help to find a printer that will be compatible with my new MacBook.

Is Brother MFC-J4340DWE printer compatible with MacOS 10.12.6 (Sierra)? The specs on the Brother website for the MFC-J4340DWE printer say the minimum supported OS is 10.14.x. Does this mean the printer won't work with 10.12.x, does it mean they won't repair it or update the software, or does it mean something else? I'm using a mid-2012 MacBook Pro. Thank you.

Printer drivers for Mac Air M3, OS 15.2? I am moving most of my work from a 2016 Mac Pro to a Mac Air with M3 chip and OS 15.2. Having trouble with my old HP printer and HP does not offer Mac drivers fro 15.2. I also suspect my printer is too old to use with the new box. Any suggestions on printers with drivers suitable for 15.2?
