For light video editing, a M2 MacBook Air with 16 GB or 24 GB of RAM would likely do. (Do not get one with only 8 GB RAM. The minimum requirement for Adobe After Affects is 16 GB. On all Apple Silicon Mac notebooks, RAM is soldered in and cannot be expanded after purchase.)
For professional video editing, I would say a 14" or 16" MacBook Pro with a M3 Pro or M3 Max (not base M3) chip.
- The Pro and Max CPUs are better than the base CPU for work that takes good advantage of multiple CPU cores.
- You can get them with lots of RAM.
- They have cooling fans that will help them to maintain performance under heavy load.
- They can drive two or more external displays. (The M1/M2 MacBook Airs, 13" M1/M2 MacBook Pros, and 14" M3 MacBook Pro can only drive one.)
- They have three USB4 / Thunderbolt ports, a HDMI port, and a SDXC slot. (The lower-end notebooks only have two USB4 / Thunderbolt ports, and most of them don't have the HDMI port or the SDXC card slot.)
