Is check coverage a legitimate way to tell if AirPods are real?

I bought some AirPods but I’m afraid they aren’t real I checked their serial number on check coverage and they showed up as AirPod pro gen 2 but I believe they are fake as they show a lot of differences from my brothers AirPods in which he bought those from Apple.
