When I press the top part of the button there is a very pronounced metallic click.
If the bottom part sounds as expected (according to my feelings).
Is this normal behavior of the button or is it a defect?

I tested the Power Button on my iPhone 15 Pro Max and it was a soft depression no matter where I pressed on the button. If the Power Butotn on your iPhone 15 Pro Max is making a metallic clicking sound, and it bothers you, then I recommend that you have it examined at the Apple Store 👉 Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options or at an Authorized Service Center for further diagnosis and evaluation.
