Apple battery replacment help (uk)

Hi so. i have an Apple watch series 6 Stainless Steel 44MM GPS + Cellular.

So its battery health is at 78%. I’m looking into going to the apple store to replace the battery which will cost me £95. however i have looked online about stories where they don’t replace the battery. they simply take that battery replacement fee and replace it with a new watch with new battery. Has anyone from the UK had this experience?

and if this is true. Then what would they replace my stainless steel apple watch 6 gps and cellular with as it is stainless steel and it is more of an expensive watch. and i wouldn’t be really happy if i just gotten a normal aluminium apple watch. as i brought this stainless steel version for a reason.

second question is. if they was to replace it? would they ask you if they can replace it first? or do they go ahead and send the replacement out? and if they do ask you do you want it replaced and you say no. do you get the watch and the refund for paying the fee as if the battery can’t be replaced ?
