Can't sync icloud photos onto Macbook

I've got all my photos backed-up to icloud but I can't seem to get this to sync with the photos app on my Macbook. I've tried to toggle on sync to mac within my settings but it shows the attached message, I click open photos and then nothing happens.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 14.1

I need to sync my iCloud Photos to the Photos library on my new computer but cannot figure out how to do so. Settings>iCloud> when I turn on Photos it takes me to the Photos app, but no option to click so that my iCloud library is synced to my new MBP Photos. Syncing iCloud pictures When I go into my Mac settings and go into iCloud it will not let me sync my Mac to my iCloud Photos. What could I do to change this and allow my Mac to let me sync it up?

Photos syncronize with icloud problems Hi, I am running Mojave from an extern hardrive on a 2013 imac. Most of my pictures are stored in the original hardrive inside the imac. I have not been using Icloud before, and are now setting it up to syncronize and store my pictures. The problem occures when I go to "Photos" and "preferences" and "Icloud", I get the message: "Icloud - functions for Photos are just available for the system library." How do I get by to make icloud sync all the pictures I have on my hardrive? Best Hans
