Multiple Internal Drives Shown

When I run Disk Utility these multiple internal drives are shown. Is this normal? Ever since I got this iMac (24" 2021 M1 chip Sonoma 14.2.1) I have frequent directory problems and apps not performing correctly, among other software bugs. I use Disk utility often, plus OnyX and MacPilot that allows me to use this iMac, but I frequently need to run these utilities.

External hard drive not showing in finder I downloaded an app that changes the format of external hard drives from NTFS to something for Mac. However, I did not use the app and uninstalled it using app cleaner. Since then, my external hard drives do not show up in the finder's sidebar and I do not know how to reverse the problem and bring them back. The box for showing external hard drives is checked in the preferences. I have tried reconnecting the hard drive, using different hard drives, and restarting. Nothing has worked.

Why is Desktop not Showing Hard Drives? As far as I know, I changed nothing—I updated nothing. Yesterday, my partitioned internal hard drives and my one external hard drive showed up on my desktop. Today, there's a folder called "Desktop" in which all of my internal hard drives reside. The one external HD still is showing up on the desktop. I've gone into Settings and found nothing that would indicate that these internal hard drives should be in a folder on my desktop! I also keep a number of often-used files on my desktop and all of those are now in that same "desktop" folder ... on the desktop! What gives? Macbook Pro running Ventura 13.7.1

What is a Disk Images I am running OS 10.13.6, High Sierra on a Mac Book Pro 15 inch. I am trying to delete my information on the computer and return it to factory settings to give the computer to another party. In running Disk Utility to perform this task. When I open up Disk Utility, I see Internal Mac - SATA Internal Physical Volume . Mac OS Extended (Journaled) (499.25 GB) Disk Images OS X Base System - Disk Image Volume . Mac OS Extended (1.29. GB) The disk utility does not allow me to erase the disk image volume. Is that okay before I turn it over to the other party?

There’s actually only one internal drive shown. It’s broken down into multiple partitions/containers. it can be confusing if you’re coming from Windows. What you’re seeing is completely normal.

Basically, the drive is split out into a container that holds a read only partition containing the OS and a data partition. From the perspective of the user looking at finder, it all appears to be a single drive.
