I get a message saying a duplicate file name was sprecified when I log into iTunes. This has just started in 2024. I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes but I still get the same message. I read that reinstalling iTunes might fix the problem but I am worried I will lose my music library if I try that.

No, you will not lose you music library. But it is never a bad idea to backup (old copy) your music library first. See:
