Using Migration Assistant

Using a new Mac Air and I want to transfer some files to it from a Time Machine backup from an older Mac that I no longer possess. Using Migration Assistant I get a message “Looking for other sources “ and cannot proceed any further!

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you want to transfer some files from an external hard drive to your new computer. First, connect the drive to your computer and make sure it mounts. You might also want to open the drive to make sure there’s a TM backup file on it. Assuming you find the backup folder (or file) try using MA.
