Bulk transfer of photos due to divorce

I was the family photographer, and have to share 3 decades worth of photos on my Macbook with my ex-wife. I want to transfer only a date range of photos, corresponding to the dates we were married. There are many thousands of photos, and I want a way to transfer them that's pretty simple. I don't want my ex connected to my iCloud or my Google account, so am not sure how best to proceed. Any thoughts on how to best accomplish this divorce transfer??

I think that I would use Smart Albums to collect the pictures together, and then export those albums. To keep things manageable, I think that I would produce 1 year albums-- apparently nearly 30 of them. So, for instance, use a Smart Album with "

Date Captured" "is in the range" "1/1/1998" to "12/31/1998" (The dates are inclusive.)

When I tried this, I could actually just drag the smart album into a folder in Finder and all the edited pictures showed up with metadata intact. Then you change the years and do it again. If you put the year in the name of the smart album and change that each time, you will get a new folder in Finder.

If you're really angry, I suppose, you could include all 30 years in one folder.

Here's how you can do it:

1

2 - in your main library create a smart album with the date range of the photos you want to give to your ex.

2 - you an either export the unmodified original photos in the smart album to a folder on your Desktop or an external drive (if you don't have enough space on your boot drive).

3 - copy the folder to a flash drive big enough to hold them. If you ex has a Mac format the flash drive APFS or OS X Extended (journaled). If she has a PC format ti to ExFAT so that it can take larger folders/files.

If there are no flash drives large enough to house the photos have you ex get a small external drive so you can copy them to it. There are flash drives up to 128 GB available on Amazon for around $15.
