m2 max vs m3 pro

I am a graphic/signage designer and currently use an iMac 27" (i5) which is fine but I do notice that it becomes very sluggish at times when switching applications. I mainly use the Adobe creative suite (Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop) but I am also looking at using 3D software in the not so distance future.

I am looking at purchasing a MacBook Pro and I currently have my eyes set on two models:

MacBook Pro 16" M2 Max (2023)

MacBook Pro 16" M3 Pro (2023)

Considering my profession and the softwares that I use, is there anyone out there that could tell me which model to go for and why (in simple terms please).

Many thanks in advanced.

Compute Power is the thing that is at the top of people's list, but for Apple-silicon Macs, is actually the LEAST important. Any Apple-silicon Mac has enough compute power for what you want to do.

For image manipulation you need a LOT of built in RAM memory. 16 GB is just 'ordinary' today. For your purposes, MORE.

You pay dearly for portability and the built-in display. But it's NOT an iPhone, it runs faster and better when you provide power. lug it in when AC power is available. Your MacBook Pro only charges off the provided power when needed, and will NEVER over-charge.

RAM memory and built-in storage can not be upgraded internally after purchase. but you can always add more external drives.
