..For a time some years ago the OWC (other world computing) company
showed more than one means to calibrate a portable Mac battery onsite.
Here's a link to page that shows/tells process for older version of calibration.
NewerTech - Older Portable Mac Battery Calibration Instructions:
These instructions worked OK, with certain known issues back in the day
and their suggestion (for early newertech battery used in older portables)
was to be repeated at some point. Later instructions avoided this aspect.
The battery you received might or might not be suited for use now; date
of manufacture being two+ years, could be an issue. ~ These might not
honor an old guarantee; most genuine batteries included 1-year warranty.
Makers of Chinese batteries are unlikely imports from outside CH regions.
A PDF for Battery Conditioning for older design Mac batteries shows more:
https://eshop.macsales.com/Tech/manuals/newertech/batteries/batteryconditioning_r1w.pdf
Instructions within this PDF points to helpful further instruction with
extra additional information/links from portal, how to Reset the SMC.
Reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

NewerTech's PDF has instructions now lacking from other official sources.
Those might be place to start, after you determine battery warranty status.
[Original batteries changed over time, latest versions are 'internal' access.]
..These instructions could be useful, should the battery appear dead..
You are referring to the battery? Remember, these are worlwide forums and you posted in the English version and not everyone knows what an akku is. I am not familiar with LMP. In the US, the only reliable replacement batteries are sold by OWC (macsales.com). There are no OEM batteries available.
This is what I would have bought - the specs are slightly different:

And, a battery that is 2 years old?
LMP is a Swiss distributor (cropmark.ch) that sells the batteries under its own label (www.lmp.ch). I don't know which manufacturer is behind it (made in china). But maybe it doesn't matter, because the system recognizes the battery and shows that it has not been charged yet (0).
The condition of the battery is good...

Hello babowa
Thank you very much for your reply. Yes, the battery arrived in the post yesterday. Until now, the Macbook Pro had exactly the same battery in it as this one from LMP. That's why I don't understand why it's not working now. The product descriptions clearly state the same type of MacBook Pro 17".
Thank you very much for your link with the more powerful battery. I have already read that if the MacBook doesn't get the power it needs, it won't charge. It has 103 watts...
Then I'll send the battery back and buy yours.
Thank you very much and a nice evening greeting from Switzerland.

Good luck from the US by way of Muenchen.
