Hi! New user here. Please share expertise on reducing latency!

I have dropped my I/O buffer size to 128 (resulting latency is 165.3 ms roundtrip, 162.7 ms output). I turned on low latency mode. And I have adjusted the sample rate to all options.

Is there a way to reduce further? Is my computer or my cable a limitation? I am using a Mac mini that I bought last year. The cord came from Amazon. It's connected to my Arius.

Would really appreciate any feedback!

First.... turn off Low Latency mode for now. Then, start a fresh project with only a few audio tracks and a few MIDI tracks. Open Logic's preferences go to Audio and make sure the input and output are set to the Arius... you may need a Yamaha driver. Set the in Logic sample rate to 44,100khz. Low latency mode ie Only used with plugins which cause latency.

p.s. the output may be need to be set to your monitoring device.

I have dropped my I/O buffer size to 128 (resulting latency is 165.3 ms roundtrip, 162.7 ms output).

This is very high!

Have you pressed "Apply" after changing the buffer size? My (roundtrip) latency is showing something between 10 and 15 ms at 128 samples with a M2 MBP, depending which sound device I have selected including internal In and Out.

Which computer model, macos and Logic version are you using?

Edit: What is Arius? I only see yamaha pianos and no sound cards.

Thank you very much, Pancenter -- I appreciate the help! I checked the output, and didn't even think how the output to my bluetooth headphones would cause latency. What a silly mistake. Switching to my monitor speakers made the roundtrip latency 29.5, and that is so much better.

Is it possible to reduce more? Is 29.5 normal? I downloaded a driver from Yamaha's website (just googled Yamaha midi driver) and I'm not sure that did anything? Though, I'm not sure it works on the newest operating system.

Thank you very much, yoyoBen. Appreciate the help! Between 10 and 15 sounds amazing.

Yes, I did press the "apply" -- good to check. I miss simple things like that from time to time (like, using Bluetooth headphones, so silly, which significantly added to the latency).

Mac mini M1, 2020 8 GB memory. Sonoma 14.2.1 os. Logic Pro X 10.8.1.

Arius is a digital piano, my model number in particular is YDP-162.
