Open Safari, look at the bottom menu bar. The Bookmarks icon looks like an open book and is the second icon from the right. Tap on it and Bookmarks and Favorites should pop up.

It is important to know that Safari for iOS (iPhone) and Safari for iPadOS (iPad) look and operate differently. I understand that the Safari for iPad is able to display the bookmarks at the top in a bar fashion. Safari for iPhone does not provide the favorite bar at the top. The favorite bar on Safari for iPhone can be accessed by tapping the bookmark icon at the bottom of the Safari screen.

This is very helpful, so thank you! I have another question about this same issue.
My iPad Safari Favorites are fine and they look the same as they always did. But somehow the Favorites bar on my iPhone changed the other day. Suddenly my Favorites don't show automatically when I open Safari on my phone. I have to look for them using your instructions. And when I do find them, they are spread out all over a page as icons. They aren't shown as tabs at the top of my page.
How can I get the Favorites to show as tabs on a bar at the top of my page again instead of icons? Thank you for any help you can give.
If you are referring to the Safari address bar and would like to see it at the top, then open Settings ➡️ Safari ➡️ Then under TABS ➡️ Select Single Tab: This will place the address bar at the top in Safari on your iPhone.

Hi Axel:
Wow. Thanks for the quick response. I followed your instructions but it didn't fix the problem. Maybe I'm explaining it right. I stink at this stuff.
I have my Microsoft Chrome bookmarks synced with my iPhone and my iPad. I followed some online instructions and did that about 2 months ago and I like it and haven't had any problems. I don't know if that has anything to do with what's happening on my phone right now but I wouldn't think so though because my iPad is fine and looks the way it's supposed to.
But right now when I tap the Safari icon on my iphone, a blank screen comes up that says 'Chrome://bookmarks' at the top (see 1st pic). If I click the open book icon, I see 'Favorites' and 'Tab Group Favorites'. If I click 'Favorites', I see a list of all my bookmarks in icon form. (see 2nd pic). So how can I get those Favorites to show as tabs along the top of the screen when Safari first opens?
I tried this and it didn't work. My iPad Air 4th generation has always shown my bookmarks they way I want them. But on my iPhone 15 pro, everything looks very different.
I just opened the settings on my phone and my ipad to compare the two. The ipad has a simple toggle switch to 'show Favorites bar'. But that entire option is missing on my phone. Why would my phone not have that option when my iPad does?
I tried switching to 'Single Tab'. The Landscape Tab Bar is enable if that matters.
I just want to be able to view my bookmarks as along a bar at the top (or bottom) of my phone (as shown in my iPad screenshot) and also be able to click on the subfolders underneath each of those bookmarks.
