The Smart List feature in Reminders is actually built into the app itself, so you don't need to download anything extra. It might just be a matter of knowing where to look! Here's how to get it on your iPhone 14:

  1. Create a new Smart List:
    1. Open the Reminders app on your iPhone.
    2. Tap "Add List" (if you don't see it, tap "Lists" in the top left corner first).
    3. Choose the account you want the list to be saved in (if you have more than one).
    4. Enter a name for your list.
    5. Tap "List Type" and then choose "Smart List".
    6. Select the filters you want to apply to your Smart List. You can filter by tags, dates, locations, flags, and priorities. You can choose if items need to match any or all of the filters.
    7. Tap "Done" to complete creating your Smart List.
  2. Convert an existing list to a Smart List:
    1. Open the Reminders app and select the list you want to convert.
    2. Tap the "More" button (three dots) in the top right corner of the list.
    3. Tap "Show List Info".
    4. Scroll down to the bottom and tap "Convert to Smart List".
    5. Select the filters you want to apply to your Smart List, just like when creating a new one.
    6. Tap "Done" to complete the conversion.
  3. Customize your Smart List:
    1. Once you have created or converted your list, you can customize it further by changing the name, color, and icon.
    2. Tap the "More" button on the list again.
    3. Choose "Edit List".
    4. You can change the name and color of the list here.
    5. Tap "Choose Icon" to change the emoji or symbol representing the list.

Tip: You can see existing Smart Lists in the Reminders app by swiping the screen to the right and tapping "Smart Lists". This will show you all of the Smart Lists you have created or converted.

I've been having the same issue and resolved it myself as I couldn't find anything that helped.

  1. I uninstalled and installed the reminders app. I opened it and saw that nothing had changed.
  2. Went to settings and searched "Reminder" in settings, which yields a few options.
  3. I toggled to have the reminders app backed up to iCloud.
  4. Went back to the search and selected the last option that says "Reminders, Reminders" that takes you immediately to a screen labeled "Default List". I let that be and reopened the Reminders app and the smart options are there.

Not exactly sure which step helped it appear, maybe it was just the iCloud back up or maybe it was just the default list, but it's there now! Hope it helps you too.
