iPhone 12 ios 17.1.2 recognizes sd card reader but doesn’t show the sd card images or file folder?

I have an iPhone 12 ios 17, sony ms-mt4g sd card and an official apple sd card reader (lighting to sd card).

When i plug the reader with the sd card on my iphone charging port i can see that my phone recognizes it because it shows in Settings > General > About > Apple SD card reader.

But when i look at the photos app theres no imports section and it doesn’t show in my files folder either.

I’ve bought two different card readers one third party one from amazon and the official apple card reader but they both don’t seem to work. I can’t tell whether the problem is with my phone, the sd card, the card reader or all of the above. I also tried inserting the sd card on my macbook air 2017 since it still has an sd card slot but that didn’t seem to work either so i’m guessing it might be the sd cards fault? but when i put it back in my sony cybershot digicam it works just fine.

Is anyone else experiencing the same thing? and how did you guys fix it?
