Cannot get verification SMS on iMessage

I have switched recently my whatsapp from android to iPhone. I’m unable to get verification code SMS or call. I applied all troubleshooting but nothing was helpful.

i also tried to open my whatsapp again on android and there I received verification call, meaning by, there is some issue in logging in via iPhone.

I have been trying from 24 hours but every time I get a message that “ There is some issue in sending SMS to your number”. And same goes for call

Any solution or guidance?

It's absolutely a whatsapp/Apple problem. If it were carrier then no sms would be coming through, which is not the case. I've given up on whatsapp and will likely soon be giving up on Apple.

Double check the right number is inputted, if it is, then contact your phone carrier as SMS is their features not Apples.

I was having the same issue. whether I was on wifi or not I could not get the SMS message. I connected to a VPN and it worked immediately. It must have something to do with the network I was using at the time. I would suggest using windscribe or another VPN provider and choosing a location near where you are actually located to receive the SMS message. Hope this helps someone because this was driving me nuts cause I had to use it for work and I couldn't get it going.

Same, iphone 15 Pro, ios 17.3, all other functions work fine: sms, phone calls, mms, imessage, fb messenger, but whatsapp won't send the code or call to verify.

Already sent a request to whatsapp support, this was the reply:

Verifying your phone number with a registration code is the only way you can activate your account.

To complete the registration process and activate your account, your device must:

* Have an active SIM card for the number you’re activating. Unsupported

phone numbers, such as VoIP, landlines, toll-free, paid premium numbers,

universal access numbers (UAN), shared cost, and personal numbers can’t

be registered on WhatsApp. Make sure you enter your phone number in

full international format.

    • Have
    • a stable internet and cellular connection to receive SMS and/or phone
    • calls for the phone number you’re activating. If you’re abroad, you must
    • be able to receive international SMS and/or phone calls. If you're
    • abroad and roaming, keep in mind that this might incur extra charges.

Note: If you have a prepaid line, make sure you have enough balance to receive SMS or phone calls.

Once you’ve confirmed the requirements are met, follow the troubleshooting steps based on the issue you’re experiencing:

    • You didn’t receive a code: It can take time for the
    • registration code to be sent to you. If you haven't received your code
    • after 24 hours or still can’t register your account, please reach out
    • with your number in full international format.

    • You must wait before requesting another code: Please wait the amount of time indicated on your device before requesting another code.

    • Your phone number isn't supported: Confirm you entered your correct phone number in full international format. WhatsApp doesn’t support VoIP numbers.

Same issue. @razmee209 you must work for WhatsApp - so not helpful.

I knew this wouldn't work but just to play the stupid WhatsApp support game I went to my carrier and they replaced my SIM card and refreshed my network settings (thank you SaskTel - exceptional service!). Of course it fixed nothing - this is a *WhatsApp* problem. In order to login to this Apple support community I received an SMS verification code from Apple, and earlier I received an SMS code from GoDaddy. Competent app providers know how to use SMS ! If I didn't require WhatsApp for work I would have quit trying three days ago.

Nope don't work for Apple or whatsapps, I'm just a fellow Apple user who volunteer my free time to answer question in these forums.

Do you think that you may have blocked the number from where it's coming from? (on the iphone)

Another option may be to delete WhatsApp on your Android and see if the message comes thru to your iPhone. Maybe some confusion sending between the two. Or.... turn the Android off... don't have it on at the same time you are setting up the iPhone with WhatsApp.

That's all I can think of. Good luck!

I'm having the same problem and have not yet found a solution. WhatsApp has not been helpful, so I'm trying my carrier, Rogers, but not much luck there either. Anyone out there have a solution?

Thanks,

Yup you escalate the issue with your phone carrier SMS is their feature, and with Whatsapp since you're using their product.

I had the same issue when trying to install WhatsApp on my new iPhone.

I tried multiple times to wait the timeout period and retry, but it always failed. WhatsApp support told to me to reinstall which was not helpful. Clearly they need to read this thread to see that it is an issue (so I sent it to them in the support feedback survey).

Eventually, I used to the "did not receive notification code" and opted to get a code by phone call instead. This worked -- got a call immediately with a new code. Entered and successfully installed.

Honestly wouldn't have bothered with the whole hassle for myself but someone else insists on using WhatsApp.
