Unable to Scan using HP ENVY 5540 to MacBook Air with macOS Sonoma Version 14.2.1

Unable to Scan using HP ENVY 5540 to MacBook Air M2 2023 with macOS Sonoma Version 14.2.1

Also unable to scan using HP ENVY 5540 to MacBook Pro Mid 2012 with macOS Catalina Version 10.15.7. It used to work on the old Mac.

I open "Printer Webpage" and I am taken to the HP ENVY 5540 All-in-One Printer series

Embedded Web Server page. I click on Scan tab, then I press Start Scan. It starts the webscan, the printer starts to scan, and then I get this error message:

This hp3c52822266e3.local. page can’t be found

No webpage was found for the web address: http://hp3c52822266e3.local./eSCL/ScanJobs/1c8950ac-c9b4-1f08-af9e-3c52822266e3/NextDocument

I press the Reload button and nothing happens.

I am sorry you are having scanner problems. As you have found out, when we install an operating system upgrade or some OS updates, printers and scanners may stop working. Then a new OS compliant software must be installed for the scanner. What you can do is to thoroughly check the HP web site for updated compliant software that works with Sonoma. If none is available, then you should ask when it will be released. If that doesn't work, you can try scanning using Apple's Image Capture app. It will scan, but is not full featured. Another alternative is to download and try the full featured scanner software from VueScan. You can try it for free. It will show a watermark until you purchase it. I bought it and can recommend it. I have no association with VueScan. Good luck.
