How much free space is available on you internal and external HD?

How is your extrnal drive connected with your computer?

Which external SSD model are you using?

How many tracks are you using?

Are other processes running in the background (backups, streams, emails...)? Check also activity monitor.

Which Macos and Logic version are you using?

You shouldn't have this kind of issue with playing one track. I know from reading other posts, a few other users had similar issues in the past. You will find something with a proper internet search.

Have you transferred data from an old to the new computer? What data ? And how did you do it ?

I know many people who work with SanDisk SSDs without any issues, but there are some who avoid them. The discussions can be found on the internet as well.
