Wired headphones don’t work with iPad pro

I can’t hear anything on my iPad with wired headphones or wired headphones attached to an adapter. The regular speaker works. I can use wireLESS earbuds but they fall out of my ears and I lose them. This is a fairly new iPad Pro and the wired headphones worked up until I did an IOS update. I had read a blurb that this was an update issue but can’t seem to get help. I’ve cleaned out the USB “C” plug and rebooted. My wired headphones are brand new.

Is this an adapter by Apple? I’m not saying this will work, but sometimes in the past I have seen when updates have gone through, if you had 3rd party adapters they didn’t always work right after an update. This was before USB-C so I’m not sure if this is still a thing, but just an idea.

But you omitted discussing wireless headphones, which sound like the perfect solution.
