My question is, does Apple Pencil USB-C work with Apple eighth or ninth GEN iPad

I just bought an apple pen USB-C and I can’t seem to connect it with my iPad eight or Nen or even my iPhone SE second generation, so did I buy the wrong pencil?

Is the new Apple Pencil (USB-C) compatible with iPad Pro 12.9 5th gen? The Apple Pencil 1st generation is compatible with the iPad 8th and 9tah generation. See: Apple Pencil compatibility - Apple Support
