How can I find out if an Apple Watch I’m buying used is under contract with a carrier?

Other than the seller informing you there is no real way for you to know. It is not carrier locked so that won’t be a way to find out like you could with a phone. The real concern would be if the original owner activation locked the device making it impossible for you to use it. You would need to ensure that the seller properly erased the watch before purchasing to make sure you don’t get burned (as well as only purchased from sites that provide buyer protection when eligible or using payment methods that offer the same like PayPal…again following the proper rules to ensure buyer protection applies. Cash, apps like CashApp/Zelle do not offer this and will not help you get your money back if things aren’t how they should be).
