Unable to transfer audiobooks from iTunes to my iPhone

I'm trying to load some audiobooks from my pc onto my wife's iphone 14+, but iTunes isn't letting me, or just isn't working properly. I've got all the audiobooks loaded onto iTunes, in the audiobooks section, but then when I go to sync then into the iPhone, they don't transfer. I've scoured numerous sites looking for answers, but haven't found anything that'll work.

Any thoughts?

If each of the audiobook chapters are set as media kind is Audiobook, (not genre is audiobook) as shown in the screenshot below:

you also have to set Sync options that will synchronise those audiobooks. This is in addition to setting sync options for music.

  • Connect the iPhone to your iTunes Library

    • this will display the Device/Settings/Summary pane

Using the screenshot below as your guide:

    • switch to the Device/Settings/Audiobooks (1.):

    • tap the box named Sync Audiobooks (2.) so that there is a tick (checkmark) in the box
    • if you leave the default All audiobooks (3.) selected, then all your audiobooks get added to your device. If you choose Selected audiobooks (3.), a list will appear that allows you to select only what you want
    • tap the Sync (or Done) button in the lower right corner of the iTunes window
