“YouTube” is in full screen. Swipe down to exit. Dumbest thing ever Apple!

When I go into fullscreen to watch a YouTube video on my iPad Pro 11”, a small box appears in the middle of the new screen for a few seconds upon the video opening in fullscreen, then it goes away.


why is this box appearing? No duh I’m now in fullscreen thanks for pointing out the obvious. I must have some notification on? How do I get rid of this ridiculous notification?

That’s because there is a fullscreen mode available in Safari now, which can be used by websites. And of course YouTube made their own implementation of fullscreen player which has terrible UX and is full of bugs especially related to screen orientation.


Luckily you can disable fullscreen api (makes youtube use the normal player) by finding the toggle for it in Safari advanced settings.
