iPhone smell makes me sick

I had an iPhone 8 and 3 months ago it started smelling like battery acid. I had the battery replaced, thinking there was corrosion. It still smelled & I couldn’t stand being in the same room with it & the smell lingered on my clothing & furniture. So I just got a new iPhone 15 and guess what? It also smells like the old one. It literally makes my lungs hurt & I feel nauseous. What is causing this smell? Should I trade it in for yet another new phone or switch to a non-Apple device?

Not sure what you're smelling, it isn't battery acid. Lithium Ion batteries are sealed in a leakproof pouch.

Most likely you are smelling a sealant used to water-resist the phone. Not sure where you are seeing thousands of users complaining about it, certainly not in here.

And if it was dangerous to the public, there would be lawsuits left and right from various EPA agencies.

Im having the same issue with my iPhone 13. It’s definitely the battery. The sweet smell goes away after I turn the phone off. It irritates my sinuses when I get close to my phone.

Weirdly, some people can’t smell it and it doesn’t affect them.

Did you eventually trade it in? The trade in I got from T-Mobile has the same exact problem so Im going to the Apple Store instead.

I just replaced my SE 2022 iPhone because of the smell it gets all over your hands you get it in your nose and in your throat it's a real thing!!! And now I'm having the same problem with my new SE 2023 it's exactly the same thing it's all over my hands I can't touch it!! my husband thinks I'm out of my mind but I don't think so now that I'm reading others are having the same problem. I'm so glad it's not the lithium battery I was really afraid of that! It scares me to breathe the fumes I don't know what they are and I don't know if it's killing me.

please help us!!
