anyone tried the Irig HD X with Logic Pro?

I have bought the irig HD X guitar interface but I can’t seem to find any info about compatibility with Logic Pro. I don’t want to unbox it until I know it will work. Anyone tried it?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 13.6

Hey!

I bought one this past Christmas to begin doing some more recording at home after my kiddo goes to bed, and I can confirm that Logic Pro X

a) recognizes the iRig HD X as an input source,

b) I can load in all the patches from AmpliTube, etc...

BUT

c) I have not yet been able to make it sound anything like a guitar... so I am currently chalking that up to user error mostly, though the lack of literature / tutorials to confirm and aid me isn't particularly helpful either.

Okay, so my initial weekend explorations came back with no real solution to "c" and only a workaround.

The workaround:

Since AmpliTube 5 has it's own built-in "DAW", I recorded the audio in there, and exported it from there as an audio track and dragged the audio into Logic.

The problem:

This could honestly just be a function of the fact that I haven't done anything in Logic in almost 10 years, but, I ended up having to duplicate the type of Amp I was using in AmpliTube in Logic, as well as find equivalent pedals...

Current Status:

  • I have a ticket open with IK Multimedia to see if they can quickly and easily explain to me how to solve this.
    • I'm hopeful, because the reason I bought the iRig was for AmpliTube and Tonex... Not having to carry around or use a full analog pedalboard anymore is a huge perk of great modelling software.

BUT

  • If I come up short there, I am going to try and return the iRig HD X, and just use a regular audio interface like a Scarlett Focusrite or Arturia Minifuse and I'll have to settle going through my pedalboard. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I currently have a support ticket open with them, because there's no legitimate reason why this wouldn't work with Logic. And I tried purchasing a second Audio Interface as well from a different company and had the same result.

I'm currently either thinking that the problem either lies with Logic or (and unfortunately, more likely for me) between the keyboard and the chair. 🥴

But I've got tickets open with both companies, and it should work just fine.

Currently the only workaround that I've found has been to record the audio in the DAW inside of AmpliTube5, and then export the audio file and drop it into Logic... it's a little ridiculous that I have had to do this so far, but it's been a useful workaround while I wait for a response from IK Mulitimedia.

I've also got a support call with the Logic Pro Team tonight to see if they can point me in the right direction... Will let you know what I find out.

Thanks - that’s really helpful. It’s still sitting in a box unopened! Apple referred me to their ‘expert’ department who sent me a link. When I opened it, it was the link to the irig page saying you could use it with Mac products. Nothing about Logic Pro.

the info from IK Multimedia UK was similarly vague. Surprising that they are not connecting their device with an industry standard programme. I think I will try to return it….
