cannot connect to server while pairing new apple watch

I am trying to connect my apple watch to my iphone but after the verificaton code, the notification of cannot sign in, there was a problem connecting to the server pops up. We have tried everything, can someone help?

trying to pair watch but will not sign in to apple id I just received my Apple Watch 9 but cannot pair it. It seems to be using a second Apple ID I have (no obvious way to change that) but when I try to log in it tells me "cannot connect to server". Tried on cellular and on wifi, no luck. Any ideas?
