External 56K Dial Up Modem Availability for OS X

Why are there no external USB Voice/Fax modems available for the Mac OS anymore? Wouldn't it be great if you could open Contacts and actuate the phone line to dial a number? There HAS to be some way to do this, Mr. Apple.

I feel your pain. I have a speedy 56K US Robotics Sportster and somewhat slower 2400 bps modem in the basement and I miss their warm and fuzzy sounds and blinking lights. But unfortunately our phone line has been disconnected for ten years so only either 4-5G mobile or optical fibre is possible anymore.

Thanks for your comment! I still have a VOIP line using fiber, so I can't stop searching for the right product that Sonoma would be compatible with.

I found this and it seems to be what would work, if the drivers are found for it on my Mac.
