Mid-screen pull down search not working

When you pull down from half-screen on the Home Screen it has always given you a search. I still see the search but no way to type in it!! Best I can do is go to the second combined app screen and search there. I have my apps filed because I use the search exclusively. What’s happening to the search typing?
