Dialabrain there's an auto delete option in settings for trash after X days.
BobHarris, there's a directory called .trash in the root directory for the user. Easy to access.
Mere mortals will not know that. If Apple gave an option to hide the Trashcan, most users would forget they did it, panic after accidentally deleting a file.
And finding hidden files is not a typical mere mortal kind of activity.
Command-Shift-period is not well know to normal users, and then even knowing that a file called .Trash exists, per device, is a stretch for the typical Mac user.
Or using Finder -> Go -> Go to folder -> /.Trash is not common knowledge. Let alone /Volumes/some-volume-name/.Trash
And accessing via macOS Terminal is not an option for most users. I have lived in the terminal and command line environment for 50 years (i still get paid to work their), and trying to explain cd, ls, mv, etc… to a user that grew up in a GUI and touch screen world is not for the faint of heart 😳
You would be better off looking for a 3rd party app/utility that will remove/hide the Trashcan, then to get Apple to give you and option to make it go away.
