External BD Drive not working on my Mac

Hello, one and all.

Firstly I don't know if this is the right place to post this but it's the only place I can think of to start.

I have recently purchased the Pioneer BDR-XD08EMB-S from Amazon UK. I have tried to download the driver software twice but not having any luck and am hoping someone here can help.

I am trying to download the driver software on two separate Mac's.

The first is running macOS Catalina, version 10.15.7. On this Mac I get a message saying the software isn't compatible.

My other is a MacBook Pro, running on macOS Sonoma 14.2.1. On this MacBook I get a message saying "The application can't be opened" and, what I am assuming, is an error code, which is 10661.

Please help!

Since you can not open the driver I am going to assume that it is formatted for PCs, not for Macs. Most likely you need to reformat the disk to be able t use it with your Mac. To do so, you should only use the Mac app Disk Utility to do the reformat and format it the same as your Mac's HD is. Many external disks ship with maintenance apps. Never, never use it. They almost always cause big problems. Only use Disk Utility and you should be ok. If you are then still unable to use the disk, return it to the vendor.
