Apple TV's Computer app doesn't show my entire movie library

With the latest Apple TV update, I can no longer see my personal library of over 200 movies in the Apple TV app.

The TV app library now only displays my movie & TV purchases. When I view my library in the Computers app, I only see a dozen movies when there are 200+.

I never had any problem viewing my library of movies until this update. Would greatly appreciate any solutions.

My system specs:

Apple TV A1625 (64 GB) running tvOS 17.2 (display is an LG tv)

iMac Retina 5K (2020) running Ventura 13.0.1

Both devices are connected via a wifi network

This has always been the case, not new to 17.2. For Home Sharing on Apple TV, you have to use the Computers app, not the TV app. Only iTunes Store purchases appear in the Library of the TV app on the Apple TV box.

In the Movies tab, you’ll see shared media files that are tagged as Media Kind: Movie. Untagged media files will appear in the Home Videos tab. Could that be a cause of a discrepancy?

Could it be that (some of) the media files are on an external disk that is currently not connected?

Could it be that the Library has recently been moved between disks?

Could it be that some the media files on the Mac are there, but not (yet) added to the library in the TV app software?

Could it be that more than one computer is in the home network? Is it loading the intended library?

I can’t explain that from the information provided, nor verify anything in your setup. It was and is still working for me, so I think it should be able to work.

Verify that the ‘missing’ video files are still properly linked in the Library on Mac. If the Mac’s Library somehow ‘forgot’ where the source file is, then it won’t be included in the shared library. You can verify that by trying a bit of playback on the Mac in the TV app Library. If you want to share iTunes Store purchases through Home Sharing, then those should be downloaded first.

If you decide to go with a different media home sharing system, then that is fine too. Good luck!

I checked and no, there's nothing misfiled in the Home Videos tab.

Could it be that (some of) the media files are on an external disk that is currently not connected?

The files are on an internal disk that is always connected.

Could it be that the Library has recently been moved between disks?

The Library has not been moved at all.

All files were previously added to the library (with artwork, notes, etc.) and, as mentioned, were previously visible and playable until the latest update. I can still find them in my computer's library but the TV app software no longer displays them and they do not show up under the Computers app on Apple TV. They are, quite simply, gone from the Apple TV environment.

Could it be that more than one computer is in the home network?

There is only one computer on the home network.

Is it loading the intended library?

As mentioned, it is loading the intended (and only) library on my computer. Only a fraction of the intended library now appears, whereas before the entire library would load without a problem.

I do appreciate the reply, despite it leading to no answers here. The fact that I must now resort to rebuilding my entire movie and TV library under a third-party media home sharing system is more than annoying. It signals that Apple intends to restrict its Apple TV users to content they rent or sell.
